Digital Speed Challenge #881 -- Let's Go Auto

When was the last time you used your camera in Auto mode? There is a time and place to shoot in aperture or shutter priority, manual or auto focus, or perhaps HDR. But auto? This week put your camera in Auto, take a few snaps and post your favorite image. Are jpegs really that bad? Extra credit for SOOC.

This challenge begins when posted and ends at midnight GMT on 20 October 2025. The winner will be announced shortly thereafter.

The Challenge Rules:

1. Camera: Any DIGITAL CAMERA is allowed.
2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size: Maximum image size is 1600px on the long end. Minimum size is 800px.
4. Post Processing: Do whatever you like, and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting: ONE PHOTO per photographer per challenge. List camera model & lens used. Post brief EXIF data: ISO, shutter speed and aperture.
6. Commenting: No commenting and Likes during challenge. After the challenge is closed discussion is encouraged.
7. Keep it clean, and both family and work safe.
8. Have lots of FUN.
9. This text is available in a sticky. Copy the text and paste it in the new thread.

I always shoot in Auto but I almost always edit them - crop, straighten the horizon and brighten. -So I just picked one at random SOOC (He's probably not shooting in auto) IRL I probably would have cropped this a little

Almost every photo I take with my phone is on auto and sooc, but for this one I figured using a cell phone pic wouldn't be in the spirit of the competition. The camera I'm currently using does not have an 'auto' setting, so that leads me to the little point & shoot that I use occasionally when I think I'll want more zoom than my phone can give me and I can't carry my big heavy camera & lenses. The only editing here was to resize it for web posting.

My choice for this week's challenge is Sherry's lynx.

Ed and Rosalie both get HMs.

Thank you all for your participation.

Congratulations to Sherry. This was interesting because I almost always shoot in auto. I tried not doing it that way once or twice and decided it wasn't worth the hassle. But I edit most of my photos so my challenge was to find one I hadn't edited.

I haven't heard from Sherry in two days so I'm asking Rosalie to take over for this week.

Rosalie, what's the next challenge.

First of all, thank you so much for the win. I am so sorry I missed this. BIG apologies for dropping the ball on this one. Life got in the way last Tuesday, and we ended up with an impromptu out of state trip. I didn't have my computer and only sporadic access to internet. Plus, I was so busy dealing with family things that I never even thought of checking. (Everything is ok with the fam now, but it was a wild week.)

Thank you, Rosalie for picking up my slack. Again, I sincerely apologize for messing up.
