Digital Speed Challenge #880 Hanging On

It is 6 October and the temperatures here in my part of Michigan should NOT BE in the low 80s during the days. Its almost as if SUMMER IS HANGING ON.... (see what i did there?)

this does NOT HAVE TO BE weather related. got the original photo of a kitten hanging from a tree branch by its front paws? post it up. got a string, that's stuck to the back of your dress/skirt/slacks/pants/shorts that's 'Hanging On'? share it. got a button that's 'Hanging On' by just a thread? you get the idea...

This challenge begins when posted and ends at midnight GMT on 13 October 2025. The winner will be announced shortly thereafter.

such great entries this week. i love them all. i looked at the first and said thats cool! then i scrolled to the next and said THATS cool and then third and on and on...

the first really is creative and cute and while Rob (RWDP) is free to edit how he sees fit, inverting the image just took away from the uniqueness of the shot.

Ed's (Dilopix54) icicles got me all depressed about the upcoming winter...

Bill (Darkslinger) has that poor monkey in a torture position! eee gads!

Rosalie (great grandma) found a very whimsical shot and youre right, its GOT TO BE in there someplace!

Terry (TerryPinky) got us in the halloween mood with the dangling hand. does it belong to the lady in white?

Don (Old Crow) though has got the nod. that is one SUPER STRONG spider/cob web strand for sure! that is not only hanging on but hanging on by a thread!!!

thank you for all of the submissions...

over to you Don

I didn't even see that thread until you mentioned it. But I agree that the leaf hanging by a thread was the best. My photo was taken from a little open boat in Tortuguero Costa Rica.

There was an amusing incident - one of the monkeys decided to hang upside down and eat fruit that was below him on another branch.

There were a couple of little girls sitting with me and they were pointing and giggling and one of them said the monkey had a pink vagina. The monkey was quite away off, and I couldn't see that well, so I zoomed in with my 300 mm lens and took a look. It was a male monkey, so he did not have a vagina

Thanx Dave for commenting on all the entries! WTG. Curious, is Don's leaf hanging by a threaded poked hole or part of a spider web?

Thanks for the nod Dave. I'll get the next challenge up later today.

Terry, it was neither. Some spiders hang by a single thread and let the wind blow them here and there. This thread was anchored to the ground and just happened to snag a leaf in the process.
