This was very difficult for me to judge.

There was only one photo of a lighthouse that I am familiar with - Tybee is one of my favorites and the photo is from far enough away and from a sufficient elevation that the photo is straight on at a very tall lighthouse. No distortion like there is in minex100_7642.jpg

Then I thought I would for sure pick the lighthouse photographed in the lens ball (although I don't know what that is. I love photos which are framed in a different way.

The moon (rising?) over the Cape Spear lighthouse gave such an impression of space and isolation although the lighthouse itself was quite small - it was just beautiful and it was the only one that showed any water in it.

The photo of the Cape Mears lantern room with the Fresnel lens was another intriguing photo. It looks as if we are seeing the only small section of white because there is red (for danger) on both sides

And the Grosse Point light with the sepia tones was made moody by the cloudy sun. That's the one that I am going to choose as the winner, with the Cape Spear lighthouse second and Cape Mears third.

If I recall correctly I stood well to the east on the other side of the road.

Great challenge Rosalie, all were excellent entries! Thanks for the win🙂
I'll be back in a few with a new challenge 😉

Thanks Rosalie - This lighthouse dates from the 1830s and is now a National Historic Site. There is a new, taller, "traditional"-shaped one operating nearby, but both are pretty high up on a prominent headland, the closest point to Europe in North America (excluding Greenland anyway!)

Thanks for the additional information. I didn't know that there was newer one.
