Digital Speed Challenge #789. Missed Focus

We all have shots that would be great, or at least GOOD, if the focus had been correct. or on the subject...

This challenge begins when posted and ends at midnight GMT on 18 December. The winner will be announced shortly thereafter.

The Challenge Rules:

1. Camera: Any DIGITAL CAMERA is allowed.
2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size: Maximum image size is 1600px on the long end. Minimum size is 800px.
4. Post Processing: Do whatever you like, and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting: ONE PHOTO per photographer per challenge. List camera model & lens used. Post brief EXIF data: ISO, shutter speed and aperture.
6. Commenting: No commenting and Likes during challenge. After the challenge is closed discussion is encouraged.
7. Keep it clean, and both family and work safe.
8. Have lots of FUN.

>> THE WINNER ALWAYS SETS THE THEME FOR THE NEXT CHALLENGE, POSTS IT AND JUDGES IT - BE PREPARED <<

AN EXAMPLE

My friend was using my camera (first time ever with a DSLR) and missed the focus on the flag-folding at my father's funeral. he DID get the member of the firing party though, so i kept it...

Question - as we sort out the transition from POTN to FoP (last POTN Digital Speed is now running over there): are we still considering moving from a Judge to a Jury here? See my post on POTN #786: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?p=19581346

There was support for the idea from several of us "regulars" on the thread.

Further thoughts?

i dont know if any decision was made...

Martin picked my entry last week, so honestly, i forgot we were considering swapping to jury pool v judge...

im all for going whatever way the majority want...

Not sure if it was me or the camera but not much in focus in this image.

Judge vs Jury. I adore the idea of a Jury, but it does seem to take so much longer to post, view, judge & tally-up.

My honest answer, let's table this idea for now, and then bring up again after holidays and EV1 adjusts completely to Focus-on-T-Net.

Also,,, ED was Diloenzo1954, now known as DiloPix54,, aka Ed from Chicago, Right?

okay!

i went about 6 hours over on the closing time and i have a hard time on this one. lots of great entries to chose from.

i keep coming back to Ed's wrong track in part because i always wanted a highly detailed train empire growing up but just could afford it so, Im going to go with that. i got side-tracked and this one speaks to me.

Dan's ethereal (is that the word im looking for?) ghostly human in the cemetery ALMOST looks as if it was set up that way but he gets the a highly regarded 2nd place image.

Martin's Normandy photo brings up 3rd place. being there, he at least had the opportunity to shoot another photo (i HOPE). if i didnt have my glasses on when i shot it, id probably not have a chance to shoot another, not knowing until i got back to whereever my computer was and i was able to download it and look at it on a bigger screen.

thanks to all who contributed. Terry, Ive not seen Gallagher for almost 30 years (although he has recently passed) i remember his show well.

ED, bring us a new challenge please!

Great challenge with great entries, Dave! Thanks for the win.
I will have another challenge up shortly ;)
