Post and share your cruise trips and feel free to talk about them as well. Can be the cruise ship itself or land/excursions as well.

Went on my first cruise in September 2014 and chose Alaska. This is the back of the Grand Princess.

Never been on a cruise before. Bit leery to be frank, as the only time cruises are in the news is when they have a bacterial outbreak on board lol. Probably just confirmation bias, but I’m a solitary travel kind of guy. Not sure if I’m the cruise type.

River Cruising .. 200 people more often less. I think we had 134. Travel at night and Dock during the day and see the sights.
Much more interesting. Here is the ship. Not my photo and I can't find it to link it. I won a prize on the cruise.. A thumb drive of photos of the trip. LoL
I was the only person on board with a DSLR two actually..

That actually looks like something I would enjoy. Where was this?

Europe, The Rhine mostly From Budapest Hungary to Amsterdam, NL 15 days on the river and we got to Budapest a day early and stayed in Amsterdam a couple of days.
It was most awesome. Big sliding glass doors to the outside to sit and watch the scenery go by.

This is the cruise I took: Avalon Waterways

Yep Viking River cruises are ships just like that one. 190 passengers and no one under 18.

There are pros and cons on the river cruises. The big ships have casinos, broadway type entertainment, workout rooms and swimming pools. As far as I know the river boats don’t have those perks. But they are easier to get around in like not many stairs and such. That’s important for us geezers. :giggle:

Well, I don't care about casinos, broadway entertainment or swimming pools (I have one at home).. LoL
Yeah the geezers have trouble with the stairs. We had a lot of seniors on the trip.. They have special excursions for them with less walking,
gentle and slow. I'm a geezer, but I can walk the socks off most people. I've been hitting the gym since neuro-spinal surgery. Put the fear in me!!

I think the river cruises cater to geezers. I’m gonna try one someday.

A small island near Bora Bora. This was a small ship cruise on Paul Gauguin Cruises in May 2012. They brought us to this small island that was pretty much deserted except for a few local people. Across the way, was a completely deserted island. Quite beautiful I must say.

Cool sites! river cruises are also nice. Probably more relaxing with the calmer waters and less crowd. How was the food?? :D
