I don't need G&N posting access, but when I click on a photo to display it I get a notice "You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action." This is only for images hosted here; if they are hosted somewhere else I can click through no problem.

Is this deliberate? Seems to me that if access to G&N images is restricted, I shouldn't have access at all.

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this. I came from POTN and had full access to G&N. I registered here and also can access G&N, and see the images, but I cannot comment on them. I get a "You have insufficient privileges to reply here" message. I was able to comment on POTN. Is there a way I can have my status updated (or whatever it takes) so that I am able to comment on G&N threads?

Thank you so much for your attention to this.

We are giving early access to G&N to people who also had access on POTN. You just missed the thread in FAQ: https://focus-on-photography-forum.net/threads/fine-art-g-n-early-access.297/

No matter though. I will give you access.

Thank you very much for fixing the issue. The thing was, somehow I already HAD access to the forum. I could see all of the threads and all of the pictures, I just couldn't comment on them.

Thanks again for resolving it. I look forward to visiting this new site often.

No one but staff has access to commenting in G&N automatically. Everyone joining is a new member with zero posts. You have to start over and make a zillion posts before the G&N setting will let you in.

That is not correct, OhLook. For POTN'ers there is a special notice in Fine Art G&N on how to get early access immediately. And for regular new members there are instructions in FAQ on how to get it. We have given full access to I don't know how many POTN'ers already.

I should have said "You have to start over and make a zillion posts before the G&N setting will let you in. But a staff member can give early access" and so on. The word "automatically" earlier in my post didn't do its intended job.

I just took a look out of interest into the rules for posting/access. I suggest that the second sentence may not have been intended to have the word "only" in it, and perhaps "not" should be substituted. Or perhaps "view" instead of "post" letting "only" stand.

I don't suppose it's possible to grant access to those that did not meet the criteria on POTN? I was a member for 14 years, but only had 314 posts. 500 seemed a pretty high requirement, but that is what Pekka required, so I didn't ask for early access. As this forum is new, I wondered if there might not be some leeway, in that regard. If not, could you possibly enable likes for those of us without full access? We were able to do that on POTN, even though we were not able to comment on posts in G&N.

Members with limited access to Fine Art G&N now have a Like button.

Actually, you could get early access on POTN also. You just had to submit examples of the quality of your G&N work.

Alas, I don't have any. I just wanted to be able to comment on all the wonderful work that others have provided.
Which is what I believe a LOT of members of the G&N forum are interested in.

Perhaps, but not from me.

I checked it out when I finally had access, and there really was some high-quality work there.
I even posted a few comments to commend a photographer or more on the quality I saw in their work.
Think international magazine covers and the like. I liked those.

Soon after, it seemed to go downhill.
Models who weren't attractive to me(both men and women), tattoos covering everything, bored looks,
plastic posing, etc.

The point I was making is that many in the G&N forum want to view and comment but not necessarily post their own work. For example, I am mainly an (amateur) landscape photographer, but I still check out the G&N forum and comment on things I like and things I think could be done better. But I don't have any G&N photos of my own to post, because I don't shoot that genre. I don't think G&N should only be for G&N photographers.
