When I first started using a R6 I continued using my EF lenses. After a while I decided to upgrade my EF IS v1 lens to a RF. It was a very good upgrade, sharper than the old lens, lighter and easier to use. It is my favorite lens.

I routinely use it at a shutter speed of 1/125 in low light situations. Between the in-body IS and the lens IS shots are sharp. I almost always shoot at f2.8.

Here's anexample from last week at our local Christmas parade.

And here's a portrait of our local theatre company's new artistic director.

That's my current debate, upgrading to the RF 2.8 or purchasing an R5 as a primary with my R6 as backup...

Agreed.100% with your first post (#2 in the thread), Paul. My 70-200 II (the EF version, of course, but my point still stands) is what I reach for more than any other. It’s sharpness, color rendition, ability to deliver great backgrounds, amazing.

I'm very happy with RF 70-200 2.8.
Sharpness, bokeh, usability, universalism - I can't find any other lens that contain it all in one package. Planer, studio, landscape - 70-200 rules them all. :)
Tripod leg unattached from first day, hood from 24-105 and you have relatively tiny telephoto lens in your bag.
I have a lot of photos with it...

Nicely done

Just noticed that these are with the EF version III, Jeff, so wrong thread! Just checked the Lens Image Archive and amazingly enough, there is no thread for it. So, feel free to start one in the Image Archive thread. Note, there is a thread for the Ver I but note for the Version II or the III. If you don't mind, I can start one and move your post to that thread.

You can't be upset with it, 70-200 is too powerful and gorgeous ! :)
Congratulation!

....most beauty portraits starts from 135mm 2.8 ;)
Thank you!

I was on the fence for a while because I wasn't a big fan of extending barrel design but it is lighter and has faster AF than my old EF 70-200 Mkii, so I am starting to like the new RF version. :)

Yes, I don't want "newly" full-sized 70-200 because of size, no way, but a week ago I noticed that got 2 particulars of dust right behind front lens.
I know, it's no make difference on photos, but you should know - dust will sit in the lens somehow with a time (I used my from 2021 in regular conditions. no deserts or Tundra). I guess, it's happen when I shoot timelapses with a moon. More than an hour on tripod with fully extended barrel. We don't have official service of Canon for cleaning it up, but I not so bother with it. This Lens is great even with a dust! :)
