Might as well start this thread for this glass... Waiting for it to arrive at my doorstep soon... I'll edit this first post with images... But from the technical aspects of this new RF glass, it's quite heavy and has no "IS" built-in... Weights more than the original "Brick" glass (i.e. EF 24-70 f/2.8L USM); which didn't have "IS" either... But if you have an R-camera (i.e. EOS R3) with built-in camera "IS" then you're good to go...

Anyhoo... Post photos and discuss this RF glass from Canon's lineup!!!

Wow. Sand sculptures and ice sculptures are something else. It seems like they are working with crude tools, shovels and chainsaws and such but the end results are amazing.

I think that pirate and the reptile was the most detailed sculpture at the event.
Sculpted by "a professional" (how it was articulated to attendees) it was not included in the judging of the sculptures being created 'live' at the event.

I do not know how it will fare when viewed on the forum, but when zoomed-in on using Flickr, the detail in the sand is incredible, especially on the reptile's jaw.

My spouse Mary, in an image taken on the same day and with the same lens.

Nice! Walked by this location many times. It seems like there’s always someone or the other playing music there.

On Flickr, I have an album-full of images of the School of Honk participants and under just about every image, are a couple of links that I placed offering information on the organization.
(I am a spectator, and not a participant)

Also with the 28-70:

I working a lot with raws from 28-70. My client is a wedding photographer and he shoot every wedding only with 28-70 (15-35 on second body, but only 10% of photos).
What can I say... It's a best zoom for portraits. Creamy, sharp, beautiful images. I'd prefer 28-70 than 85/50 f1.2. Amazing lens.
But weigh and 95mm filters stop me from buying one. I have weak right hand (left one isn't perfect as well) and don't know how I can hold this huge barrel... But I sure, this is unique superb lens, maybe best of the best in standard a.k.a. one lens for all.

Congratulation on acquiring one of these lenses!

Yes, it is 'chunky', but it is also very versatile, and beautifully made.

Hey hey Butch, so I see you've picked up an R3! There are still a few features I miss about the 1Dx3, but I can't imagine going back to the weight of the 1Dx body. :D

But yes, the 28-70 is a "weapon." You can use it for self-defense, knock out the assailant cold and then still take sharp pictures of the perp lying on the floor as you wait for LEO to arrive.

Hey Julian... Yeah... I think I'm the last photog amongst my friends to switch over to the mirrorless world... I held out as much as possible, but when I found out about CPS members getting a 20% discount on new camera bodies, I took the blunge... Now I'm learning and trying to get use to the process of how to change settings and such... I also bought the adapter so I can use all my EF glass, including the "Eye of Sauron"... Lastly, I like the R3's built-in image stabilization... So now all the glass that don't have "IS", has it through the camera body...

I'll definitely use the "New Brick" both as a tool for shooting AND as a 'weapon' for self-defense... Hehehehe... Anyhoo... Good seeing you on this platform, Julian... All the best to you and the family in 2024!!!

:giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

Finally took out the R3... Matched it up with the RF 28-70 f/2L combo at Disneyland... Took this snap of my cousin and his son in front of the Magic Castle... Shot wide open and used a CPL to bring out the skies while providing some fill light from my Profoto A1...
