Canon R10 Owners Unite! Share Photos and Discuss

Joining in on this thread since I just pulled the trigger on an a refurb R10 kit from Canon at $649 and should have it next week.

Currently have R5 II, R6 II, and R7 for travel, wildlife, etc. but wanting a smaller body for EDC, I bought a refurb R50 back in 2024. I wasn’t happy with the lens options (same issue I had with EOS-M cameras, no compact f/2.8 options) so I ended up selling it in early 2025. Since then, I’ve picked up the Sigma 2.8 10-18mm and 18-50mm lenses for the R7 thinking that would be my small camera kit.

R7 with the Sigma lenses was still bigger than I wanted, so I gave the G7x Mark III a try. I wasn’t really happy with that camera’s image quality compared to an APS-C sensor and really don’t think it lives up to the hype or price. As my luck would have it, my G7 ended up being lost or stolen at a hotel a few months ago. Given its cost and my dissatisfaction with it, buying another wasn’t an option.

Canon had refurb R50 kits on sale a month ago ($499) and I decided I would give it another go with the smaller, faster Sigma lenses.

Love the size, great little camera but I just found myself missing the second wheel and some of the other controls and features that are on the R10. While the R10 is a bit larger than the R50, it is still a good bit smaller than the R7. I made about $50 selling my first R50 and should make $50-$100 selling the second, so essentially moving to the R10 shouldn’t really cost me any extra (or at least that’s how I explained it to my wife… ;))

Hopefully, this will satisfy my GAS and deliver nirvana for a relatively inexpensive compact kit for EDC or when I don’t want to risk drawing unwanted attention lugging around ~$6K or more in FF body and “L” glass.

.
The R10 is a great camera. I have the RF18-150 mm lens and the RF100-400 . It's much better focussing than my 450D. Here a photo with the R10 and 18-150 mm, 1/250 6.3 and 500 ISO

My first R50 took almost 3 months to find a buyer, this time around the R50 sold faster than I expected and I turned a bigger profit than expected! I might just start a new hobby of shopping Canon USA refurb sales to turn them over once they are out of stock or back to regular price. ;)

Bought from Canon USA for $499, listed it on Monday, sold on Saturday for $625. The refurb R10 was $699 so only a $74 dollar out of pocket difference for the joystick, second control wheel, dedicated AF/MF switch, AF start button, full mech shutter, and sensor cleaning, and UHS-II. Definitely worth that to me for the added features, even at a marginally increased size.

R50 is a great little camera, I guess I’m just spoiled by my other cameras and only willing to “rough it” so much  I think the R10 will be perfect for what I am wanting in a compact kit. Should have it Tuesday, and my wife’s flower bed is just waiting to be shot.

My new (refurb) R10 arrived yesterday, doesn't really feel much bigger than the R50 except for the larger grip area. Very happy with the upgrade.

As with all new lens and cameras, garden picture are required for my wife to approve of the purchase ;)

Lens is my OLD Canon FD 50mm F/1.4 SSC the shoots are all f/2-2.8

I like it!
