Maybe a weird one, but then again it could be I'm missing something or have a feature turned on that I can't find.

Scenario...

Camera all turned on and ready to use, rear screen closed, set to full manual mode. If i take an image then press preview, which I do through the viewfinder, the image looks correct for exposure. As long as I'm aiming the camera at a well lit subject.
Come out of preview as though I'm ready to take the next shot etc. Now aim the camera at the floor, or put your hand over the front of lens. Preview the same image, and it looks dark, histogram in both cases is identical, which I would obviously expect.

This does not happen on my R3, I cannot see where I've set something so ambient light would affect things.

Any ideas?

Problem now solved, somehow the viewfinder brightness had become set to Auto, changed to manual and all is good on R1.

Strange thing is, when set to Auto on R3, the problem does not show.

Or put the other way, the R3 hasn't been programmed to adjust automatically to ambient light.

Changing the settings to Auto or manual on the R3, the preview would never change, always looked correct.
It was the R1 that was strange, the settings on both bodies could be the same, but they would react differently. Anyway, all sorted, I might have a play when a get some spare time, but I'm in no hurry now.
