The front rubber grip has come away after about a year or so. It became all warped, so I did not bother to try and stick it back on.

The thumb rest also came away after a little while. I did try and glue it back on, but it came back off, after a week or so. So I left them both off.

There are times when the lens cover does not close properly, a little nudge with finger, and it goes back in place. I love this camera for doing video, but would I get another one? Well I have owned this camera for five years, it has not failed yet. So, I might replace it with another, but second hand. Not sure if I would buy buy new again

Not even sure, if the G7X can be had new. I must check at some point.

My G7X-2 is my go to point-n-shoot camera. I bought it in 2017 for our trip to Ireland to use in place of the less pocket friendly G16. I'll be watching for loose rubber panels.

I bought my G7X-2 refurbished from Canon two years ago. It went on a few trips where I couldn't or didn't want to bring my photo backpack. I was surprised how capable this little point and shoot camera is, especially in the low light.

Well yes, as it can do more than point and shoot. As it has full manual controls etc. Great photo captures. (y)

I had just posted in another thread asking about the G7 II vs. III and then I saw this. While I like the quality of the images, the body deterioration makes me wonder if there might not be a better camera 'out there'.

I have owned the G7X for five years, and used it a great deal. Never let me down, other than the peeling rubber. I do recall I had a Nikon DSLR and a fujifilm compact. The rubber grips came off both of those cameras too.
