Sticky Canon FW updates

Sticky
One thing I didn't get for the R7. The ability to map Subject to Detect to a button.

It fixes minor issues. Too small to specify. Could still be annoying to some. If you know you are annoyed, try doing what annoys you to see if it's no longer annoying. Then you have identified one minor issue.

Seriously, there are always some esoteric stuff, that only shows up during pretty obscure circumstances, that washes up after a while. When they've hunted such bugs down and fixed them, these are then unspecified minor issues.

For some reason, I only received the email from Canon about the R7 1.5.0 firmware today. This was released to the rest of the world a long time ago!

If only Canon would update their firmware so that all updates would run on a Mac. I have an R6 and R7 and received the notice about the firmware update, but only was able to download the R7 firmware. The R6 was not compatible. 🙄

That's odd. It's just a .FIR file; not anything that depends on a particular OS. They only need to package it as a ZIP, DMG, TAR or whatever. What download link did you use?

I have an R6 and use a Mac. Firmware updates work for me.

How things changed in a couple of days is way above my pay grade. I had received the email from Canon that there was new firmware for the R6 an R7. I clicked their link (took me to Canon support site for the R7. It said that I was using a Mac and wanted the software version. I clicked Sonoma 14 and downloaded the firmware. I then clicked the link in the R6 email and the same thing appeared, but when I selected Sonoma 14 it said that it was not supported and the download link (like happened with the R7) did nothing. I just went and logged into my Canon account, went to the R6, clicked 1.4 firmware, and this time it worked. I have no idea why, but I do have the new firmware and will be installing it shortly.

Thanks bobpal for saying that it worked for you or I would not have gone back to try again.
