Canon EOS R owners unite! Post photos and discuss

I love my R. It got a lot of hate from the 'pro' communities, especially the touch bar, which I could never understand. The R files are just the right size for me, they capture enough detail for cropping easily but don't clog up my hard drives so fast. And I love the touch bar, I use it to change the focus point sizes, wonderful for changing from sitting birds to flying subjects. For the price range I find it's an excellent full frame.

For me has been the ideal camera in the past couple of years. Even I'm not using the touch bar I don't really care!. As you said 30 mp are enough for me too and the images have the quality I need so upgrading to a R5 or R6 Mk2 hasn't been really a necessity so I can think about it when this cameras gets cheaper used.

Took the R, 15-35mm f/2.8 L is and EF 70-200mm f/2.8L is ii out of this morning and pretty much just struggled to find potential shots and got more discouraged by the minute. I had intended to used the wide zoom but switched to the longer zoom in short order.

Image with the 70-200mm f/2.8 at 200mm and f/3.2 and jpg polished off on the phone with snapseed...20231214004457_4T3A3579-01.jpeg

Yeah that's my plan, to buy used. The R is the only camera I ever bought new - I had a 6D and a 5dii with nearly 300,000 click on it. Thse things just don't wear out. The only thing I had to replace on the 5dii was the rubber at around 150,000 clicks. I got a set off eBay and put it on, easy-peasy. Looked brand new after that.

All my gear was bought used - funnily enough I had to send the R in to get a chip fixed - I had never dropped it or banged it but it just started losing functions which even a reset didn't help. Yet the old used dslrs never needed any work done on them.

So the next backup camera I buy may be a 5DIV instead of a mirrorless.

Love those fog photos. Is that the Polar Plunge or just some local crazy? (jk, lol)
