I bought this lens used several months ago and am wondering why the 1:4 designation instead of f/4. Is this just a lens made in another country?

1:4 means f/4. That's what is written on every lens
I have the same lens, but without IS.

That is a great lens. So much so I still have it, even though I bought the new Mark II version. I only use the heavier f/2.8 Mark II when absolutely necessary. The f/4 series are fantastic. Enjoy.

Resurrecting a zombie thread. I got this email today:

It was a great lens, only I sold it in 2017. Canon should know that, too, because I deleted it from my CPS gear list. Oh well. Any excuse for a sales pitch, I suppose.

I got the same email. Although I am planning to purchase the RF f/2.8 IS in the near future, I am not letting go of my EF f/4 IS. It was my favourite lens for many years.

Oh that’s not good, I’ve had my F4 non IS since 2006 and still use it, really sharp lens and small and light
Really hope it doesn’t go wrong

I will certainly send in my Version 1 for a Clean and Check soon as I upgraded CPS to Platinum which includes shipping both ways.
Why not?
