Used extension tubes - not sure which ones/how many.
This lens was always so versatile as a single-lens-walkabout. Always carried a teleconverter in one pocket and some extension tubes in another.

Yes, unfortunately. My favorite wetland park completely dried out several years ago when a housing development went up about a kilometer away. The park ranger suspected that the development altered the water table.

It never came back.
