I was surprised to find a thread did not exist for the EF 24mm f/1.4L II. Kicking it off now. I do not use mine all too frequently nowadays but still try to break it out every now and then.

Yeah, I broke out this lens to play with last night, after being dormant for years. I will try to get some pics to post here, using my R7. (I took some last night of the dog and cat, but they are just silly ones to see how well it looked/worked on the R7, esp with AF Servo mode and eye tracking.)

What were your setting for that great shot?

OK, so I used my cat as a test subject for super-close-up super-thin focal plane tests at f/1.4 on my R7. He was not super impressed with the lens about 2" from his nose. Amusing to see the reflection of the empty chair beside me in his right eye in the second photo.

Oooh, the sun came out! Here are a couple shots showing the extremely thin focal plane range of some Purple Ornamental grass at f/1.4 and minimum focal distance:

And periwinkles (southern US garden variety, genus Catharanthus, from Madagascar, not the northern US/Canada garden ones that are a completely different genus, Vinca, from Eurasia) - this is about all that's flowering in my yard right now...

Thank you. Settings were f/8 - 1/40th - ISO 100. Looks like exif data does not carry over via a link image?
Did you insert it as "media" or as "image"? When I grab the link to your image, it looks different from the link I get when I grab my own images.

i.e. your image has a link of (inserting spaces so it doesn't get interpreted by the Forum SW):

https : // focus-on-photography-forum.net/media/1dx28640-jpg.59937/full

One of mine is:

https : // focus-on-photography-forum.net/attachments/3n7a0870-jpg.135076/

That's the only difference I can perceive.

It was originally posted in the thread below where the exif data exists. The image was then added to my Media Library which provided the path I placed in this post.

Seascape Waterscape

EXIF does not carry over if you use the BBcode link from the media library, unfortunately. I haven't figured out how to get it to do so - will let you know if I figure it out.

However, if you have a browser EXIF plugin (I use Firefox and it does. I believe you also have it for Chrome. Not sure about Safari), then hovering the mouse over the image (or right clicking to invoke a menu) will display the EXIF.
