This thread was started by westernmingguy on 22 February 2008. A thread that, like all others, will vanish in a few weeks, and all the images that it contains. So I'm restarting it here.

I purchased the 1DIIn used in 2012 for € 500 and coming from a 40D and 5D, it was instant love. Although I now shoot with the R6II, the 1DIIn is still my all time favourite camera.

This thread can almost only show images that were taken in the past. But that's okay, don't let that stop you and post away.

Maybe it happened as I was editing that post. I had initially posted a pic of a moorhen in the OP, then remembered I had taken pics of the camera for POTN's gear database. So I decided to replace the moorhen with the camera pics. Maybe that sort of coincided with you viewing the page? Can you still not see it?

Yes it was just a coincidence ~ timing ~ 🙃
(Delete if you like)

This was my first full time wedding camera. It had dual cards. Back then it was unheard of. I have never used a camera that didnt have dual cards for weddings

It was my first 1D body and I was sold. After the 1DIIn I moved to a 1DIII, then a 1DIV. By the time I was ready to upgrade to a 1DXII, Canon launched the R5 and the R6 and I purchased the R6. But I did love those 1D cameras. They were heavy but felt so great in the hand that you didn't notice it.

I don’t know why I bought this 1D MkII. It was quite pricey and I already had a 5D Mk IV. Too much money I guess, I just got my annual bonus pay and did not know what to do with all that money! Anyway, it soon became my favorite camera with the 24-70/2,8L II IS USM lens on it! The 5DMk IV was downgraded with the 24-105/4.0L II USM lens as a backup camera. It works OK with that. So that’s my story on my 1D MKII!

I had the 1DII back in 2008. It was a great camera and my first step into the 1D bodies
Both shot with the 1DII and Sigma 50-500

Its funny that was probably only a little more than 2years into my Photography journey and I feel like I took better photos back then. Maybe it was cause it was new and I was going out as much as I could compared to today when I get out once in a blue moon

It's funny because I have the exact same feeling, that my pics were better then. Even though my cameras got progressively better and I now shoot with a R6II. And yet, my favourite images are from the 1DIIn (and the 5D too, I shot birds with the 5D for a while too, before getting the 1DIIn).

But what you say about working so much harder back then to get the images, is true for me too. I was so driven then, be out almost every day, shooting. Now not so much. I still want to, but aging and health problems. I tend to forget that when comparing images from then and now. :)

Yes my era of the 1DII and 1DIII was when I seem to have the most drive and seem to produce some of my best images.
Aging really does suck. I need to really get back into it and go out and do more stuff. Also I was in my late 20's early 30's back then so I was single and could do what I want. Now married with 2 kids things change alot
