Looks like the R1 and R5 Mark II will officially be announced in about a month. Hold on to your hats! :D

From Canon Rumors:

Canon will finally officially announce both the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II the third week of July. We're not putting an exact date on it yet (a pretty constant failure of ours in recent months), but we have been told that it is still a bit of a “moving” target. That said, we're talking a moving target of days not weeks or months.

Availability of the EOS R5 Mark II will start in August, but at this point in time, we don't want to comment on the availability of the EOS R1. We have reported November in the past, but we haven't heard any further clarification on that in a while, so that may have changed.

First I want to see how big the cooler is on the R5 II. :)
I read an earlier report/speculation that Canon is building a larger cooler into a grip that will be available as well. That’s a neat solution if true as it will give Canon a lot of flexibility in designing a powerful cooler.

If it is removable, then that is fine, but if cooling adds weight and bulk to the camera, that would be a disadvantage for me. I never make movies and my R5 has never overheated. I'd like a camera optimized for stills.

Much as I am interested, I don't think I will get up at 3 am to watch this. Hopefully, it will be repeated later in the day.

It will definitely be available after...not to mention a bunch of YouTubers with their opinions.

Was tempted by the r52 as an upgrade to my r5 but for wildlife and 'other' sports (not football*, basketball or volleyball), the changes aren't worth it to me.

* pretty sure they mean american football, don't they? not the football that the other 199 countries of the world plays...

I have not used my R5 much since getting the R7. I'll be more excited about the R7 Mark II. When that happens one feature I would love is that built-in noise reduction.

Yeah, I'll be on the lookout for that mythical beast as well, but I haven't heard any credible rumors that one is forthcoming.
