Camera Shops in the UK

There seems to be more charity shops and nail bars, springing up everywhere..it's lamentable....

Technology changes the world. The high street is now for what you can't get online or in supermarkets. That's why you see so many nail bars, hair dressers, tattoo parlours, cafes, and restaurants etc. Charity shops are just occupying the dead husks for free for a while. High rents, rates, parking restriction, and charges have also helped to kill off the high street.

I do remember some supermarkets had a camera section. Loved shopping way back then. You could do the weekly shop, bread, milk, eggs, etc. Then browse the camera section

we had a couple of good ones in Bradford, Jessops and the camera exchange, all gone now, there was a good one in Keighley, West Yorkshire, Cavendish cameras run by a lovely elderly gentleman alas that's now a mobile phone shop. There seems to be more charity shops and nail bars, springing up everywhere..it's lamentable....

True. Wilkinson's camera shop in Bury, Greater Manchester, was a regular haunt of mine and I spent a few bob there over the years. The staff became friends. Sadly, it closed during the Covid period and has reopened as... a nailbar. Grrrr.

I have visited a few second hand shops, that sell all manner of odds and ends. You know like, ice skates, tennis rackets, radios, tools, guitars etc etc. Whenever I spot such a shop, I tend to go in, in searching for any unloved cameras. But all they tend to have, is tat.
