I'm always late to learn about the latest offerings of equipment so perhaps this is old news...

But I just came across and purchased one of these replacement LP-E6NH batteries. Works just fine in my 5Dmk4, R5, and R6 cameras.
I plan to keep one in my commuter bag, one at the office, an extra one in the camera sling. Now I can easily top off a battery wherever I am since USB-C power cables are everywhere!

Oh the "cheap" part - I got this 2400mAh one (Canon OEM is 2130mAh) on sale for under $30 on Amazon.
I plan to get the orange ones too :p

I now see that Amazon has a bunch of offerings. A K&F Concept is well rated for only $46 for a 2-pack (although I have not personally tested it).

Interesting! sadly Amazon don't ship batteries to NZ, probably just as well.

I got a couple of these a year or so ago, maybe. I thought the same as you, I can charge one anywhere. I'm sure I stashed them in logical places; if I needed one, I could probably find one in the first couple of places I look. But I've never used one. I don't even know what color they are. I think they're beige. I keep a good rotation of mostly Amazon batteries charged and ready. I've always got a charged spare handy. Batteries that aren't in that rotation, I don't ever go looking for them.

Like memory cards, I already have more than enough and they are usually ready to go. But these will allow me to be lazy and less disciplined :)

One less item to carry when traveling and no worries about putting a "disposable" battery on a public charging station (y)

I got a couple of these so that i could easily charge them in the car. Great for emergencies.
That's how I'd use them, but they wouldn't replace my OEM batteries. Although that's less of a benefit with cameras that can already charge in-camera via USB. Third parties always claim more mAh than OEM, but age faster in my experience. Even known high quality cells like Eneloops suffer greatly reduced cycle count and storage life when they pack in more mAh (Eneloop black vs. white) And the internal charging circuitry must take up some space, so they're starting with room for cells, making the density even higher.

I agree with you, Mike. I'd like to take one apart to see how they squeezed in the charging circuitry and how that impacted the physical size of the battery cell itself.
But at 1/3 the price, even it lasts for 1/2 the charging cycles, I'll still be way ahead as I plan to use them as backups so they won't be cycling that often anyway (y)

I figure if I'm out shooting all day, I can always have one charging in the bag connected to my powerbank while I'm still shooting with another.

Got another one on order. Different brand. We'll see how they do :)

Yes, exactly. I have my OEM batteries with me, usually one spare. But, I still had to fall back on the emergency supply on a couple of occasions. I have no idea about performance or hysteresis, all I know is that these have been super useful.
