Due to serious health problems, my presence on this forum (end of 2023) was not only abruptly ended, but also extremely short-lived, lasting something like 3 weeks.
Strangely enough, I completely forgot about this forum over the years, until last weekend when I found a diary in a box in the storage room containing, among other things, the name of this forum, a username, and a password. I saw that I actually made 15 posts on this forum and received 102 likes; thanks to everyone for that anyway, but I don't remember any of it anymore.

Let me introduce myself: I started seriously with the photography hobby back in 1967/1968 when I got an SLR camera (Asahi Pentax S1a) and a tiny darkroom built by my brother, at home in a cupboard under the stairs to the upstairs neighbors. In the late 1970s, I made the choice not to attend art school, but to pursue higher education as a photographer.
All in all, I spent 30 years as an independent commercial photographer and designer in the fields of advertising, product, and model/fashion photography, with my own photo/design studio.
During those 30 years, I ventured into various fields; for instance, I designed jewelry for nearly 20 years (in collaboration with my wife, who is a goldsmith/gemmologist and cuts gemstones herself), and I obtained my diploma as a jeweler in 1990. Around the turn of the century, I worked for a few years as a freelance consultant for Kodak and a few years later, I started making jewelry in special metals, such as titanium and zirconium.

Hampered by declining health and also the fact that digital photography is not really my ''forte'' (to this day), I stopped all my commercial photography work in 2010 to focus entirely on various art forms.
Nowadays, having retired, I am mainly engaged in metal and glass design, digital (photo) art, and mixed media expressions. At the end of the year, I hope to start courses (like cyanotype, creative photo editing, etc.) for small groups.

Gerard.
Glad to have you back and most importantly to doing well.
Photography for me is not only an art form but also therapeutic.
Gets you on your feet, not only traveling and walking, but also standing while Developing in Lightroom Classic almost every night in my “Lightroom Lounge”
Keep up the great work.

Gerard.. I've noticed some of your contributions around the boards, but I was really taken by your post in the Digital Speed Challenge.
The image above is also quite beautiful and unique. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Welcome Back!

Welcome Back!
Thanks! I'm going to try to brush up a bit on everything there is to find on this forum; it's a lot. The digital speed challenge actually appealed to me right away, so I decided to join in immediately.

Thank you, my health has been going up and down for 18 years now, but I'm still possitive and I still have a lot of ideas to realize in the upcoming years!
