Introducing Mrs. Stone Paddy-field (Ishida-san 石田さん).
92 years old, lives in the middle of nowhere.

I talked with her a little, and gathered that her husband died 56(?) years ago due to a disease.

They had 8 children before he died, and she's been alone ever since, tending the land and raising a family.

As you can see, her spine became permanently damaged due to the physically demanding daily toil.

I really wish I could have learned more from her, but the dialect she used for much of our conversation, I simply can't make head nor tail of.

Just to show you all, here she is in colour 💚

Next time anyone complains about their unfair life, not being given the latest iPhone, because even Rupert had one for Christmas, blah, blah, blah...
...just tell them about Mrs. Stone Paddy-field, and maybe show them a picture, too...
😌

That generation that just got on with life instead of moaning and groaning about the unfairness of it all. I'm sure she has her grumbles about things, The gods know I do...and I'm nowhere near her age !

Dennis, oh yes, you're absolutely right; I'm sure she has her complaints...
...but I simply couldn't understand enough of the chat we had, to try to dig deeper.

Thus, the thread:
Being an "eternal foreigner" here, I can often just approach Japanese and start asking remarkably personal questions.

But mostly, I'm hoping members will post images of people who they wish they could chat to.
