My photography has always been rather spasmodic and is reflected in my visits to forums. Just had a lengthy lay-off from photography and was dismayed on my return following a foreign trip to find that POTN was no more! I couldn't believe it.

I've been looking for an alternative forum but hadn't found one so far that I was happy with. But on visiting the Lightroom Forum someone had posted a link to this forum, brilliant!

Looking forward to contributing, posting my photographs and catching up with other POTN refugees.

Welcome! Great to hear that we made it on to the Lightroom forum! We tried to reach as many POTNers as we could before it shut down but obviously couldn’t reach everyone. Glad to see you made it back home! Make yourself comfortable and start engaging and contributing. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help you settle in.

Hi Chris. Welcome to our new forum! You will find a lot of familiar folks here, although some have changed their avatar or their user name or both, making a fresh start so to speak. I'm so glad you found us!

Thanks for the welcome all. Whilst as I said, my photography does tend to be sporadic at times, I was away from it for longer than usual for family reasons which will still be impacting on my time for a little while yet. However a recent trip to New Zealand was a great way to get back into it and reignite my enthusiasm as is the fact that we are moving towards summer in the UK.

Great that some of you guys picked up the baton and started this site. One of my favourite threads on POTN was your Wild Birds of Europe Levina, I posted my duck and robin photos amongst others and can't wait to post on there and other threads again.

Another motivator is that I've just ordered a Canon EF 100mm f2.8L macro lens. Have thought about one before but availability seems to be getting less at the moment as it does for a number of EF lenses so I thought I'd better bite the bullet and get one now as I might regret it later.

And thanks for adding POTN refugee, was going to ask you to do that.

Oh, you are that Chris! The penny finally dropped! Of course I remember you posting in the thread, back on POTN! And it’ll be great to see your pics again here too. I think it was the first thread I started here, back in November, before the forum opened. And it’s doing well.

Funny as I plan to get the RF version of that lens. It takes a bit of swallowing though, as like all the RF L lenses it’s pretty expensive.

I thought you might like that. ;love;

Levina - thanks. And yes the macro lenses are rather expensive but after the 100-400 which I bought two to three years ago it was the only other lens that I really needed/wanted. Ok, it would be nice to get some more L glass but I'm happy enough with my other lenses which are mainly EF-S.

Squirrelsnest - thanks for the welcome.

Well, bitds have never been my favorite choice, I prefer macinery and landscapes!

Birds are only one of my photographic interests. Like many of us I photograph a whole range of things including landscapes, buildings, animals and motorbikes as I have the odd one. :) Nice BMW you have there.
