Digital Speed Challenge #876 - Youth - photos that show that Youth is NOT wasted on the young. Pictures of young people enjoying themselves or happy.

This challenge begins when posted and ends at noon GMT on Tuesday 9 September 2025. The winner will be announced shortly thereafter. Because the last one was so short, I'm making this end on a Tuesday, and I don't want to wait until midnight GMT, so I've changed it to a time I can be on the computer to figure out a winner.

The Challenge Rules:

1. Camera: Any DIGITAL CAMERA is allowed.
2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size: Maximum image size is 1600px on the long end. Minimum size is 800px.
4. Post Processing: Do whatever you like, and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting: ONE PHOTO per photographer per challenge. List camera model & lens used. Post brief EXIF data: ISO, shutter speed and aperture.
6. Commenting: No commenting and Likes during challenge. After the challenge is closed discussion is encouraged.
7. Keep it clean, and both family and work safe.
8. Have lots of FUN.
9. This text is available in a sticky. Copy the text and paste it in the new thread.

>> THE WINNER ALWAYS SETS THE THEME FOR THE NEXT CHALLENGE, POSTS IT AND JUDGES IT - BE PREPARED <<

This little one was being corralled by her momma on the sidelines of a high school football game. Dad is one of the band directors.

When I posted a photo, I had forgotten that this was one that I had to judge. I was trying to find a photo to post that showed a laughing child - of which I have plenty of my children growing up but they were all film pictures, and I wouldn't be eligible anyway because I'm judging.

-Ed's black and white photos of the two toddlers was a great first entry.
-I also really liked Rob's field trip photo and thought I might pick that one.
-I don't really understand what the teenagers are doing in Don's picture.
- I loved Terry's little girl imitating the Thinker statue but the angle, while a great choice for a photograph made it more about the photograph than the child.
But Sherry's last minute entry settled the matter for me - a happy laughing child.

So the winner is Sherry Pollett

Oh, wow! Thank you for the win, Rosalie! I'll get a new challenge up this afternoon.

Congratulations Sherry.

Rosalie, the girls are just on the grass on their stomachs with their shoes off. Guess they are trying to get the soles of their feet tanned. ????

I have the new challenge posted: On Vacation

Also just a note: I will be traveling (on vacation) next week. I set the challenge to end at midnight GMT Tuesday, which should be 7:00 am where I am. Since I'm sure I will have internet before I leave my hotel Wednesday morning, I will post the winner once I get up that morning.
